Hi, I'm Ashlyn!
I'm currently in my final year at the University of Washington, majoring in Human Centered Design & Engineering (Bachelor of Science), with concentrations in Data Science and Computer Science.

I'm passionate about facilitating positive social change in and through emerging technologies. I'm well-versed in relevant design methodologies such as inclusive design, Design Justice, and qualitative research techniques. I'm most fascinated by wicked problems facing the tech industry, such as radicalization on social media and the relationship between misinformation and democracy. I like to keep up with current events in technology, politics, international relations, and social issues, and relate them to the learning I do in my classes.

Outside of academics, I love cooking and trying new foods, reading, and learning new things. I'm passionate about advocacy and leadership - I've worked as a Resident Advisor, Teaching Assistant, and I'm currently President of the student association for my major.

I'm also incredibly proud to be graduating with a 4-year engineering degree for which I've funded the majority of the costs. I've been fortunate to have been able to leverage my interests in research, teaching, and leadership to receive jobs and scholarships that helped cover costs.
